Fiber Artist Friday: Erika Knight

Our second fiber artist this week, Erika Knight is a world renowned knitwear and fashion designer.

With a background in fine arts Knight has kept ‘simple’ as her motto when it comes to knitting and crochet.

She is the author of over 20 books about knitting, crochet and even on beading.
She is the editor of all the harmony guides. You know, Cables and Arans, Basic Crochet Stitches, Knit&Purl, Colorwork, Lace and Eyelets, and who can forget (my personal favorite) Crochet Motifs.

All of the harmony guides are lovely, I for one really appreciate the cleanliness of the layout and the simplicity of the pictures. Now if only I can win the lottery so I can buy all of them. 🙂

Her newest book looks great, Natural Nursery Knits.natural nusery

What I love most about Erika Knight though is that through all the books (and there are very, very many books) and the articles and everything she’s done, she keeps her motto “simplicity.” She never delivers something complex when something simple will do, and she manages to make the simplest of constructions look variously elegant or glamorous.
